Wheels on the Bus

I finally caught Aubrey singing on video. This was the best version she has ever sung - must have just been in a weird mood!

All caught up!

UPDATE: Aubrey has been doing unbelievably well at potty training! She woke up last night to use the washroom and she had a diaper on. Then she was in a pull up all day until 2pm today and didn't have to use it once, she used the toilet at church 3 times. She has had a little trouble being back in underwear tonight though, but she's getting the hang of it.

I think I'm all caught up in my scrapbooking for Aubrey now - now it's other stuff I have to finish.

Stop to smell the flowers

Hair Cut Update

After I made my first attempt I have been wanting to cut it a bit shorter so it looked more like a bob. I finally attempted it today. She was not very cooperative 1/3 of the way in, and I had already started so I had to finish and endure a very hard head of hair to cut! I trimmed it a little more and trimmed the hair underneath the back shorter so it curved a bit. Then I looked at her and was scared because it looked a bit too short and wasn't really working. Then I gave her a bath and as it dried it started to curve under more and look cuter, so I think it's ok. Cutting someone else' hair is stressful! This isn't the greatest photo, but it's the best I could get of her tonight!

On another note, potty training is going well. She is in her underpants during the day at home and a diaper at nap and night, but she is understanding the concept and has run to the washroom on her own. She's only had 2 accidents since we started, so that's pretty good. I have a couple waterproof hospital pads that I have been putting on the couch and make her sit only on them though - that save the couch one of the times! She has pooped in the toilet once, so we're happy about that. (Sorry if you don't want to read about this!). The biggest source of contention is that she does NOT want to put a diaper on at night and it's a struggle. I'm sure this is a good thing, but she needs to use the washroom about every 20-30 mins, so that just isn't happening at night yet!

Finally the sun came out!

Hair Cut

I finally cut Aubrey's hair about a week ago. It was much but I just didn't know what to do with it. Now at least it's even. Maybe it will help it grow more??

Potty Training

Well, the last few days Aubrey has shown great interest in using the potty. Her friend who's the same age is potty trained and Aubrey likes to do everything she does, so why not this? She doesn't like the little Ikea potty we got, instead she likes the insert on the big toilet better. It's a little more tricky as it requires a stool up to the toilet and some balance, but she does it quite well and insists on doing it all by herself. She has used it consistently during the day for the last two days and will go anytime I take her. Tonight I just bought her some real underwear and we're all set now. I let her pick her underwear out, but my fear came true: she wanted the boys underwear! She loves the movie Cars and right next to the girly underwear were the boys Cars underwear and once she saw it - game over! Finally I got her focused and made her pick a pack. We also bought a new soap pump just for her to make the whole process more fun.  So my questions is: What are your tips? Do you let them pee all over the house at first?

New Prop

I found this wire planter on craigslist for $5! It's a little narrower then I had first thought but I think it will be big enough to fit a newborn in. It has a light turquoise colour to it along with some aging.
Until it's actually used for photos I have been trying to figure out how make it useful. I might just put three round flower pots in it and plant some herbs. Or I thought of using it as a magazine holder, as my pile is spilling all over my tables and shelves. Have any ideas for me?

A quick dinner

I'm always looking for a quick meal idea when I have to make dinner for just myself. Aubrey is somewhat picky. Although she eats almost every kind of vegetable, she doesn't eat a lot of meat. She does, however, like popcorn shrimp so we keep some in the freezer to add to her meals once and awhile. When Jared is working evenings I sometimes just throw leftover salad into a wrap (or whatever else is leftover in the fridge), so since Aubrey wanted some shrimp I threw that in too - kinda like a fish taco. It was simple and really good. I threw in what was in my fridge: lettuce, peppers, peas, radishes,  carrots and cheese along with a little ranch dressing.

New Website

I've updated my website, it's loading a bit slow though. Let me know what you think!

Jared's Birthday

Jared's birthday was on Wednesday, he had to work that night so I made him a cake and we took it to him at work. I found the recipe at Our Best Bites - if you haven't checked this site out, you should. None of the recipes have failed me yet! Although I did simply the recipe: I didn't use their mousse recipe, instead I just made some Chantilly cream (whipping cream, icing sugar and vanilla) and added cocoa powder to it. And instead of their ganache recipe I just bought a bottle pre-made which was cheaper and easier. I also used skor bits instead of heath bits. But it was really good and pretty easy.

On another note, I just bought a martha stewart punch pack that was on sale and I LOVE it! I made Jared's card with it. I've redone my website again and wanted to incorporate the punched edge it makes so that's really why I bought it. With it I can make my own custom cut business cards or package materials.

Dyed Head!

Look at this head! For mother's day I was given some flowers that apparently when Aubrey went to smell she got pollen all over the top of her head. This was not cleaned up right away and it has dyed her head! It's still there now - it's slowly getting lighter. I've tried to part her hair different so it's not so noticeable.
