A few cute things...

Tonight Aubrey read me her bedtime stories and did quite well. She read me "Are you my Mother?" Every page she would say "are you my mother? - no" until she came to the mama bird and said yes.

Then I asked her to say prayers and it was too short and she was being silly, so I asked her to say it again. This time she said a long prayer where she was thankful for a lot and then she was thankful for baby Lyla, Owen, Julianne and Michael. She has never said peoples names in her prayer before and it's been a while since we've seen them or talked about them, so it was very cute.

The kind of photos you save for their wedding slideshow

When Aubrey woke up from her nap today, this is what I was greeted with when she came to find me:

What a rat's nest!

Finger Puppet Stage

I made these felt finger puppets quite a while ago. We had a stake activity where they wanted to make these for children in the hospital so I was asked to help make the patterns. I found these on etsy and were so cute, so I just took the design and made my own pattern for them and then made one of each as a sample. I just got the samples back today and wanted to make a theatre for them and something that would hold them all - I came up with this:

Download finger puppets patterns here.

Butterfly Craft

We made some paper towel butterflies from this tutorial yesterday. It was pretty quick and easy.

Paintings for Aubrey's room

I painted an owl and mushroom pictures for Aubrey's room to sit on her dresser. I had these two Ikea frames that were a beech colour so I painted and sanded them to match her room.

Aubrey's Room Update

Aubrey had a late nap the other night so we made a trip out to Ikea in the evening to kill some time. I finally got her table - it's meant for a living room side table but at $7.99 it was the cheapest table for her and it cleans up so much better then any of the kids tables. I also got the 3 spice racks - $3.99 each and painted them. I think I might sand the edges and distress them a bit - not sure. Then I put up a little string and some clips I had to hang her artwork. Last night I went to some thrift shops and bought the 3 little orange cups for crayons and the wire round basket to hold her paper. Now - how do I hide that thermostat control?? It's pretty hideous. Maybe I can built a little box around it that hangs on it?
I just totaled the cost of this whole area and it came to $50 - not to shabby!

Aubrey's Room

I haven't posted any photos of Aubrey's room because I'm not finished it yet, but I realized it might be a while.

Here's the right side of the room. It's missing a table - I still have to pick one up from Ikea. I also want to add some of their wooden spice racks to the wall to hold books and maybe a string or wire with clips to hold artwork under the basket shelves.
Left side of the room. I still have paint her nightstand white to match her dresser and change out the knobs for some antique glass or ceramic knobs.
Not too sure what to do with this corner, it's pretty full.

I bought these wire baskets last week while in Victoria. You can't beat $8 baskets, I wish I had money to buy more as there were too many uses for them!
I used Martha Stewart's instructions to make these tissue paper pom poms and hung them around the room. I have to replace the wire they are hanging with to fishing line or thread.

Fremont

We went for a little walk the other around Fremont. I just liked window shopping the best.

Painting

Friends in the ward are moving away and they gave us their Ikea easel. Aubrey loves it and it's so much nicer then using the dining table. I also finally bought her real paints instead of those water colour palette style paints that need water and are too messy.  Now I just need to find a drop cloth or vinyl mat or something to put under it instead of paper!

Random Photos

Is it summer yet? We've had lots of blue skies lately, I hope it stays.

A super easy giraffe I made for a gift.

The only time I can take sleeping photos of her is when she's sick because she falls asleep on the couch! She had a fever for 24 hours.
