2 Months Old!

I can't believe Aubrey is 2 months already, yet she's now just a regular newborn size! She now weighs 7lbs, 1 ounce as of last Thursday which was her due date!

Dresser

We finally finished refinishing a dresser that we got for free but was in really bad shape. We're pretty happy with how it turned out.

Aubrey's Coming Home!

The nurse told us yesterday that Aubrey will be coming home next week - Monday or Tuesday! So we quickly went out and bought some bottles and diapers! Everything is pretty much ready, but we are still surprised that she will be home so soon! They changed her feedings to every 4 hours instead of 3 and she's had no problems with that or the increase of milk at each feeding. She's obviously doing very well. We'll take in her car seat tonight to size her and see what we need to do to make her fit it in it.

Last Night's Visit

Jared washed her hair and gave her a bath.
When she's sleeping she makes fake little smiles that make us laugh!

Happy Halloween!

Aubrey was given the cutest little pumpkin toque for halloween from the hospital.
I'll try and get some photos of her with her eyes open - that just doesn't happen very often!

Happy Anniversary

Saturday (October 25th) was our 7th Anniversary. I was released from the hospital in the early afternoon and it was nice to come home to a clean house and presents from my parents.
We got a lot done that day, (I should say my parents and Jared got a lot done). We went out for dinner at Med Grill and it was nice to eat real food again. I gave Jared a photo of Aubrey in a frame for his desk at work. He started his new job as Housekeeping Floor Manager today and I wanted to get him a photo to take on his first day back. Jared gave me a beautiful necklace with Aubrey's birth stone - pink tourmaline stone with diamonds around it, it's small and petite just like her and it's beautiful. It was probably one of the best anniversarries we've had as we didn't think Aubrey would be here for us to celebrate it with her!

She Arrived!

October 21st, at 7:32 pm Aubrey Jane Wight arrived by C-Section weighing 4lbs.

Friday evening at midnight, my water broke while I was in Parksville with my sister-in-laws for the evening, Tracey took me to the Nanaimo hospital where she called Jared at 1 am. His was in disbelief and needed some reassurance that she was not joking! He made it to the hospital in an hour, then he took me to Victoria Hospital as there were no signs of labour. They did some tests and an ultrasound - there was no hurry, everything looked good. On Tuesday morning we did another ultrasound that showed her foot was over my cervix and it was starting to open. I had also lost a lot of fluid around her, so after waiting all day, they finally decided to deliver her. After 30 mins or so, she arrived happy and healthy! I was able to hold her for a few minutes before they took her to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit were she went to Level 2 (the middle of the 3 stages of care). She did not need to go on any oxygen, just a tiny IV for antibiotics and a tube down her nose to feed her milk. Yesterday she got moved to Level 1 so is doing really well. She has no IV or tubes and has started nursing and bottle feeding. She will hopefully be taken out of her incubator in a week or 2 as long as she gains weight and maintains a good temperature.

We are very blessed to have her so soon and healthy. She's a beautiful little girl and we couldn't be happier!

Addicted to Digital Scrapbooking!

So after giving up on scrapbooking quite a while ago, and then switching to digital scrapbooking - and giving up on that as well, I have come across all the latest and greatest scrapbooking has to offer again and started buying stuff. Then I've stumbled upon the greatest digital scrapbooking sites and now have switched to that again! It's amazing what you can find for free and how much better it all looks. I've already made a maternity and ultrasound page, our christmas cards for this year and a birth announcement - all ready to add the photo and date! I just need some photos to scrapbook now!

In Loving Memory

of Roland Wood.
On September 26th, 2008, Jared's grandfather passed away.
Although it was expected for quite sometime, as he never let us forget that he was getting older and couldn't wait until he passed on to the next life - it was still a surprise for all of us.
As Brother Burbank stated in church today - you couldn't pay him to come back!
He was quite an amazing grandfather and was determined and independent until the end. He was very caring and wanting to help out those in need, he's helped us many times, and as Winnie told us today - he'd give you his last penny if he thought you needed it.
At first we were worried about Grandma, but after visiting with her today, we can see how strong and tough she is and her optimistic outlook on life never seems to get her down. It will be sad to see her move to Langley, but we are so happy she will get to live near her sister and two sons and she seems very happy to do so.

The funeral will be this Thursday, October 2nd at 2pm a the Victoria Stake Center.
We will miss you Grandpa!

Don't Laugh

I tried knitting again, for the 2nd time ever, and well, all I can knit are squares and rectangles. I tried to figure out how to make some baby booties out of squares and I came up with this elf/ship-looking boot that Jared laughs at every time he sees it. So I turned it inside out and it looks better and rounder, but it's still huge and I don't think a 2 year old wants to wear booties. So I'm sticking to squares and maybe make a blanket out of them instead...We'll see!

Our House

Just a little drawing I did to try and visualize what we want to do to our house.
Now I'm thinking cedar shingles and hardi plank with some cedar posts for the railing with black tempered glass.

nursery room

Here are some photos of the baby's room - here's hoping the doctor was right and it is a girl!
The bassinet will be in our room and a dresser will soon take it's place.

I painted the simple little pictures on canvas above the crib

I found the star knobs at Michael's for $1 each and painted them.
That's my blessing dress I used when blessed.

Artwork

We finally had some photos printed and stretched on canvas for our living room and bedroom.
I'm still getting use to how large this one of Paris is, I need to balance it with something on the right of the fireplace, but I'm not quite sure what.

This is a photo of Florence, I'm pretty happy with it and how the colours work in the room.

Long Beach

Our campsite at Long Beach at Bella Pacifica on McKenzie Beach, it was a nice campground with full bathrooms, showers and laundry facilities, a nice change from the outhouses at Hornby Island.
Chesterman Beach looking toward's Frank Island where we talked with a home owner who lives there. We stopped at Cox Bay to see if the waves were any better and despite the millions of surfers, the waves were terrible.
Crazy Tree on a trail off McKenzie Beach
The next day we went to Wickinninish Beach, but it was a little rainy so we went inside the interpretive center and watched a film, then had lunch at the restaurant, by then it had cleared up so we went for a walk to South Beach, but didn't quite make it all the way and returned back to the main beach to watch the little birds, and surfers.
We did see a bear on the South Beach trail.
Watching the Surfers, the best for waves so far.

This guy was really good and entertaining to watch.

Looking down from the Restaurant where we ate lunch while the rain cleared up.
Wickinninish Beach
Just before we left on Saturday night around 9 pm at McKenzie Beach, finally nicer weather.
My air mattress went flat every night for the first 2 nights at Hornby, so Jared traded with me, but the 4th night of camping I had had enough so we left the 3rd night instead of staying and drove the the ferries in Nanaimo and got there at midnight and slept in the car until 4pm when they knocked on our window when they opened the tills so we could pull in and wait another hour for the 5:15 am ferry. We got an early start for Castlegar. We drove along Hwy 3 towards Hope, then Princeton, Keromeos, Osoyoos, Grand Forks, and Finally Castlegar after 7-8 hours and a lot of bathroom breaks later. The weather was much more enjoyable there and was around 30 degrees most of the time. The next day we went to Champion Lakes and watched Curtis & Bonny's kids swim, they also brought a canoe and Jared and Curtis went out and Jared caught a small fish, then Murray and Bonny took a turn.
I have photos for the other days so I'll put that in the next post.
