CALIFORNIA LIGHT

We've been stuck inside for the last couple days so I tried to take a few photos of Aubrey outside and in our garage - I'm thinking it might work as a natural light studio. I have a large wall that I could permanently hang some backdrops on - that would be so handy!

This pose (she says) is her "mommy pose" - hands on the hips!

CHOCOLATE AVOCADO PUDDING

I can't believe I've never made this before!
It was so quick and easy and you have all the ingredients in your kitchen already!
I used this recipe.

The recipe is basically avocado, cocoa powder, honey (I used agave), vanilla and salt.
I'm going to have to use avocado in more baking now that I have an endless supply!
You can substitute it for butter in most baking recipes!

I also got to use the Christmas present I got Jared - food processor/immersion blender combo. Here's what I got him: The top half of the hand blender comes off then attaches to the top of the food processor which powers the blades. I highly recommend something like this as it takes up little room and it's two different uses in one!

PRACTICE

DOLLHOUSE BEDROOM

The bedroom is almost complete - I ran out if trim for the baseboards and crown molding.

I made the vanity out if matte board as well has the tray of perfume bottles out of beads. The mirror was made out of silver scrapbook paper, cardboard and painted crocheted lace. The stool was made out if a toilet paper tube, large button and fabric.

I'm not sure what else to put in here, it's kinda empty in the middle. Maybe a rug?

MINIATURE SCONCES

I'm having a hard time finding electrical lighting that is affordable. Since I've wired the dollhouse, it seems silly to not use working lights! I need a couple sets if sconces - 1 for the dining room and 1 for the living room. I decided to try and make some.

I used balsa wood as the base, poked a hole for the wiring then glued on some lace.

Next I painted the whole thing gold.
I glued on some gold jewelry findings which will hold my light bulb.
You can buy a 2-pack at Hobby Lobby for $3.99 and it comes with a long cord.
The bulbs can screw out and you can be replacement bulbs.
Here's what it will look like with the bulbs in.
I'll probably make a small shade for them to cover them.

HALF MOON BAY + SAN FRANCISCO

Saturday ended up being a full day. It's really easy to start out by driving somewhere close-by and then end up in San Francisco! We headed to Honeymoon Bay as the next day there was a surf competition and the waves were suppose to be huge. They were big, but not as big as they were on Sunday! We saw some photos of the event and they were much larger than what we saw.

 Do you see the pelican?

I wish I had his lens.

And begins the random people photos

We headed down the road to a beach where we thought was closer to were the actual competition was going to be held and the waves were no where near as big. I think the area was actually a little further down the road.

Honeymoon Bay was about a 45 drive from our home. Once there we were only another 20 or so to San Francisco so we headed there for dinner.

In another hour we were home!
