SEWING UP A STORM

It seems I can never have a balance when it comes to hobbies. Once I start on a project like sewing I seem to need to do every sewing project I want to do in one week and then not sew again for months - on to the next thing. Yesterday I made two dresses for Aubrey - it's starting to get warm here and I thought some spring dresses would be fun to make. The hard part was deciding what type of dress I'd make with which fabric!

The first dress was a simple one from this tutorial here.

The next one is my favorite. I just made this one up but used the pleated yoke tutorial from here.

I covered some buttons for the front and back.

I have a couple more left to make, but might wait until summer in case she gets a growth spurt!
She just had a physical and she is in the 75 percentile for height. She's outgrown pants that I just bought 3 months ago!

THRIFTY FINDS

About a 5 min drive from my house sits a thrift store and a craft store side-by-side. This is a problem.
I just spent too much money today because of these two places. It is nice to browse the material section of the thrift store before heading to pay full price, but somehow I still end up buying some anyways.

I found this awesome suitecase to hold all of Aubrey's dolls and clothing in for $2.99!

I also found a dress and some shorts for her along with this vintage little A.A. Milne book.

And then I went to the fabric store and they were having 30% and 50% off, how could I resist. I also bought the yellow pom pom fringe to edge the curtains in Aubrey's room.

It's time to make some summer dresses!

OWL + THE PUSSYCAT

The other day I spent a good chunk of the day making these two dolls. They aren't perfect - ran into a few problems but I guess it will help me for the next ones!

SICK DAY

I caught a few moments of Jared and Aubrey playing a board game.
This past Monday (Jared's day off) Aubrey and I both started to get colds so we mostly hung around the house. Aubrey's pick was to play board games.

ELF ON THE SHELF (2011)

I'm so behind. There's nothing like scrapbooking Christmas photos from two Christmases ago!

SOMETHING FOR HER - SOMETHING FOR ME

Man, I'm checking things off my Pinterest list! Some people just pin things to have a nice collection of photos, but I definitely pin things I'm actually going to tackle.

First up was a baby carrier for Aubrey:

This pin didn't come with a tutorial (it was a pattern someone had purchased) so through trial and error I just drew my own pattern.

I'm not sure why I made the inside piece backwards, I should have just lined it, but I was lazy and no one sees it anyways.

Next I made this apron from here.
Thanks to my sis-in-law, Julianne who let me look at her fabric stash and then when I said "Oh, I love that one" gave it to me! I really love it and now I get to look at it all the time!
