LIEBSTER AWARD!

Today my sis-in-law Shelli from Her Life blog awarded me the Liebster Award, the award is given to Bloggers with less than 200 followers, to promote and encourage new friendships among the blogging community. 3. Pick n' knit Patterns - I don't knit, I crochet so I'm at awe on Lise-Anne's talent to not only knit but to design patterns that are so original and creative!

VALENTINE'S RAINBOW

Jared arrived home and pointed out this full rainbow (a slight double rainbow!).

First off, Happy Valentine's Day!!

I found two great Valentine things off Pinterest and I'm happy with how they turned out.

First was this Valentine Card idea - which Aubrey was surprisingly cooperative for!

She shared these with her Sunbeams class today. The suckers are actually really good. They are organic, (a little healthier) sucker I found at the grocery store and the flavours are sooo good.

 The other project were these cookies. I had to track down the cutter from Williams-Sonoma, but they were fun to make!

I packaged some up for some neighbors.

FELT LIKE SUMMER!

 

Today started with a play date with two sweet little girls who came over and played. Then after lunch we tried to find a beach to play on as it was really sunny and warm. 

This has to be the worst thing about Seattle! There are so few sunny days that when we get one, every single beach is bombarded and parking is IMPOSSIBLE!

There are so only so many beaches in the downtown area so it's so easy for them to fill up fast.

I drove to the closest beach to our house and I couldn't find parking, so we went to the next one (and probably the most popular one) and it was like a summer day with kids playing in the sand and water, building sand castles etc. - it's still February people!

By this time, Aubrey fell asleep so I drove to a further one that I thought might be less busy and give her some time to have a sufficient cat nap.

 

I really like this park. It has a play and picnic area, lots of walking trails and then has a bridge up and over the train tracks to the beach. All the kids on the bridge are so excited to see the train go underneath them and the trains usually blow their horn at them.

On our way home the sun was setting so we kept driving up the hill from our house to this great park with an awesome view. It's a great place to see Mt. Rainier on a clear day. (Bad iphone photo, but you get the point).

VALENTINE'S DECORATIONS

I've been debating whether or not to decorate for Valentine's Day. I decorate for Christmas and that's usually about it. Now I have these empty old window frames on my fireplace mantel, it makes it easy to switch out simple decorations for each season. I found these free printables of a man and woman holding hearts and printed them off. Then I made some origami hearts from a tutorial I found here and just clipped them all onto my existing strings and clothes pins. I didn't want to go out and buy red patterned papers, so I just printed off some digital scrapbook papers and made my own paper.

THE BEST TRADE EVER!

I took some family photos for a friend here in Seattle in exchange for a custom painting and she brought it to me today! I told her I wanted an abstract skyline of Seattle (or a non-specific city) and this is what she created. It's actually exactly what I was picturing in my mind! I like that it doesn't have the space needle in it - now it can be any city we may have traveled too.  I love the glitter in it that shines in different places from different locations in the room. The drips remind me of the rainfall here in Seattle and will always remind me of living here. Thank you Jenny!

A friend was wanting to make a poster for her daughter's room that said "Scatter Sunshine" as it's one of their favourite songs. It got me wondering how I would make it. This is what I came up with and thought I'd share it with you. It can be printed up to 24"x36". You can print poster size prints at Costco for $9.99.
